| Rummy: Glossary Block See Set. Discard pile The pile of discarded cards that sit face-up on the table. Group See Set. Going out Getting rid of all the cards in your hand. Going Rummy Getting rid of all the cards in your hand in one turn without having previously melded or layed off any cards. Typically scores double. Laying off The act of adding a card or cards to a run or set that has already been played. Melding The act of playing a set or a run by placing it face-up on the table in front of you. Run Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. For example, 3 4 5 of hearts is a run. Also know as a sequence or a straight. Set Three or four cards of the same rank. For example, the 7 of hearts, 7 of spades and 7 of clubs are a set. Also known as a group or block. Sequence See Run. Stock pile The undealt cards that sit face-down on the table. Straight See Run. |
