Cribbage: 5 Card Cribbage

Five-card cribbage is similar to six-card cribbage, though not nearly as popular. Here is an explanation of how the rules of 5 card cribbage differ from the rules of 6 card cribbage.

1) As the name suggests, each player is dealt five cards instead of six.

2) After cutting the cards to determine who will deal first, the non-dealer pegs 3 points to help offset the dealer's advantage. This happens only on the first deal.

3) During play, players peg to 31 points one time only. They do not start again at zero after reaching 31.

4) The game is played to 61 points, not 121 points.
